What A Great Start!

WOW! We made it through out first two, unbelievably humid, weeks! I cannot tell you in words how proud I am of your amazing children.  It was tough to stick it out when the temps began to soar, but they did it!

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
That pretty much sums up our week! We really worked on fine-tuning our reading, writing, math, and basic classroom routines this week, and we are well on our way to becoming independent workers. We also practiced using our "Cool Tools". The Cool Tools are what we all use for safe, respectful, and responsible behavior in the halls and lunchroom, and on the playground and bus. Each time a student is caught using great behavior they are awarded with a Train Ticket. We collect the tickets and use them toward classroom rewards. We earned our first 100 tickets already! This week we will be introducing our intervention routines and working with different teachers during Train Time.

I will send out another newsletter next week, but here is an example of the spelling pattern we will be studying this week!

P.S. Thank you for reading each night with your children! They have done a fabulous job remembering to bring back their bags everyday!

Welcome to First Grade!

Welcome to another fantastic year at North Freedom Elementary.  I am honored to be your child's teacher this year, and I cannot wait to get started. In first grade your child will experience reading, writing, and math through a workshop model. This design allows me to meet the needs of our diverse classroom through small group and individualize instruction. First graders will also spend time conducting science experiments, exploring our community and learning about the world through music and art. We welcome you to be a part of our virtual classroom  by subscribing to our blogposts.
